Last time I used mylivecd is took about 25mins to create an iso. Now on the same machine with a fully updated install it is predicated to take 1hr 46mins and is so slow I killed the process.  What can be wrong?

I tried these switches in the hope of speeding things up, but it had no effect:

/usr/sbin/mylivecd --nodir ^/tmp,^/root/tmp,^/home/fred/tmp  --kernel 2.6.38.8-pclos1.a64  pc20110713.iso

Have I missed anything obvious?

This is on a dual athlon machine with 2GB of memory and a fast hard drive. PCLOS is installed on a single partition, has been stripped of data and at 5.3G leaves 33g free space.

If you can keep you head while all around you are losing theirs, then you have misunderstood the situation.

Short answer, no I didn't see that thread.  Will read, digest and run again with compression on and report back. Thanks for the swift kick in the right direction.

OK, I didn't need a compression switch three months ago,but for speed it is essential now. With --gzip it took about 20 mins on my machine.
