Life's Good With Linux

« on: July 04, 2011, 09:35:59 PM »

Hi Gang. I have a HP Photosmart B110 wireless printer. Before the updates / upgrade it worked beautiful in PCLos. Color etc gave a good quality printout. I have it configured on 3 different computer installations. Now on all 3 the colour is washed out, almost a monochrome type effect.  Shocked I took a photo of a computer, resised (scaled down in Gimp) for a "For Sale" notice. I did the notice up in Libre Office writer and inserted the picture. All looked good but it would not print out the picture properly. I tried printing out another small picture which had not been scaled down. Same effect. I saved the document / notice to a flash drive rebooted into windylows and opened the document whith Libre Office Windows version. Printed out perfectly. The whole thing (doc) had been put together in PCLos but i had to print out copies in Windylows due to time restraints. I removed / deleted the printer. Rebooted and reinstalled. No difference. Plus "Printout Quality / Mode", Normal, Fastdraft or Best, its not saving the settings. I reset from Fastdraft to Normal or "Defaults" for all and close HP monitor, open again and its still at Fastdraft. Even at fastdraft the colours used to be as they should just not as deep. Any ideas any one ? Maybe some one else has experienced the same color printout issue ? I would insert a copy of the image here but it wont let me browse to the location to upload it!! Huh
Thanks in advance.  Huh

Have you gone through the settings in the HP Device Manager? ....  under  More Applications - Printing

or have you been using settings elsewhere?

Saw your comment in davey's topic. I am interested in your problem but short of time. I will need facts not words so I work through CUPS server, the only thing I believe,  Grin

Copy following into konsole/terminal
Code:
service -f cups

If above is successful do the in konsole
Code:
lptstat - t

Copy and paste the result to the thread here plus tell what desktop environment you are using, Gnome, LXDE-mini etc?
