As a relative newbie, I wanted to add my 2 cents to others praising the latest version of PCLinuxOS.

After loading it as the only operating system on a spare computer, I was so impressed I formatted my main dual boot computer so as to set that machine up once again. In doing so, I learned that I  have forgotten a lot about Windows which hopefully means I am learning more  about this great Linux OS. It also took me almost 2 hours to load the Windows OS which included downloading 90 updates and security fixes. It took me 20 minutes to load PCLinuxOS.

I certainly am not fluent in using this OS yet, and have come to this forum for help on what I am sure are some pretty basic questions. But to those who have spent what must have been hours/days/months, tweaking/deleting/reconfiguring/etc. I wanted to say GREAT JOB guys!

PCLinuxOS: A revolution in personal computing

Thanks for kind words, and that's one of the major points, isn't it, that Linux is actually easier to install than Windows, the only advantage of Windows being that someone generally does it for you!

PCLinuxOS has no wealthy sponsors and can only survive with your donations! Don't wait it might be too late.

Well said Bucky! This OS just flat out ROCKS! You'll have some real fun with PCLinuxOS - fixing the small problems that crop up occasionally is part of the fun. Trust me, after I wiped out Windows XP forever I've never been happier and the folks here at the forums and chatroom are the FINEST IN THE WORLD. The support here is through the roof. You'll NEVER go without help here! Welcome Smiley

That's right. Just recently installed and it's really fantastic, now I understand why my brother had been convincing me to switch. Glad I did.

Bucky2216,

A warm welcome from NZ where we are scheduled to have snow to low levels over the next two or three days.
