Hi,
 I used PClinux a few years ago and liked it very much, then I changed my computer and for some unknown reason linux just would not install on it.
Well I have upgraded again and it looks as though It will now install, so I got a copy of the latest version from OSDisc, but I have forgoten how to install, I get past the login and local host, then I get a flashing cursor, what is it looking for. Thanks Ernie

Hi erniehatt,
Welcome back!  Grin
What PCLOS version did you get?
The latest approved release can be downloaded here: http://www.pclinuxos.com
but that is a release from 12.2010, so a very large update comes just after install.
A new iso is in the works, & has a 2nd test version that can be found here:
http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/pclinuxos/live-cd/test2-pclinuxos-kde-2011.6.iso
You might want to give the test2.iso a try to see how your system reacts.
It is a test version so still being polished. More info here;
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/board,77.0.html
and here:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,92725.0/topicseen.html

See you around.

Welcome, Ernie. Do you mean that you are booting the live CD, logging in as guest, then it hangs? If that's what you mean, have you run the Media Check from the live CD boot menu? It's the last option in the list.

Thanks for the replies.
I dont think it crashed at all, after I entered the local host, it just seemed to sit there waiting for me to enter something, that's what I supposed.  Ernie

Are you getting to a normal desktop, or not? Do you see the Install PCLinuxOS icon on the screen? We can't see what you're seeing. Unless you can specify what is happening on your end, and what questions, (if any) you have, no one will be able to help.
