DBGL = DosBox Game Launcher! Games coming!

« on: June 20, 2011, 08:25:13 AM »

I have been using PCLinuxOS now for about 2 months and have just fallen in love with this program.

My sincerest thanks to ALL that have made PCLinuxOS the supreme Windows KILLER! I will NEVER return to Windows EVER since I now have DosBox and DirectX 9.0c installed in WINE and Windows games WORK!

I've recently installed Psycho Pinball (Codemasters 1995) into DosBox 0.74 via the repos and it works flawless! It plays better than Windows did! HOW???

My music has NEVER sounded this good. I'm an 80's rock and metal nut and have finally found a OS that can make my music sound like a million dollars. Thanks for including Clementine in this! Why didn't I find PCLinuxOS sooner?

I've been a Dos and Windows user after the Apple //e series of computers died. Since then, I've heard about Linux and even tried to install it back in the day and it was a nightmare. I was VERY scared to even try again.

Until one day a man from Ebay changed my way of looking at Linux - he said "use PCLinuxOS and you won't be sorry". I wasn't gonna fall for that story so easily. Of course gaining some courage, he sent it to me with a purchase I made from him (FREE with the hard drive I bought from him). "Just boot the LiveCD and you'll be shocked" he said.

I was. I couldn't believe it when it ran - it was 50% faster than Windows and the installation was shown STEP BY STEP on the CD! Huh?? Wait, the older versions of Linux NEVER were like this! My courage now at the highest it's been since Windows was killing me with reinstalls each month it was worth a shot.

PCLinuxOS is the FINEST program I have EVER installed. I've NEVER crashed. I've never had problems. I will honestly say that this OS is the FINEST I have ever used and will NEVER return to Windows. NEVER.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I can't say this enough. My thanks to whomever has made this fine OS. I'm having the time of my life. I've never had so much fun. It takes work to get some things running, but overall I've never had so much fun figuring out how to make the things work that should.

Thanks. I don't know what else to say. I am a convert and my friend has recently dropped Windows XP for PCLinuxOS. Not only am I happy with everything, but he's more than impressed and plans on replacing not only his notebook computer but his desktop as well with PCLinuxOS.

Well said Billy.

I was on these boards and software for about a year and for some dumb unexplainable reason I installed one of the many Linux packages that can be found and found myself being very unhappy with myself as well as the other Distro that I was using so I had no reason not to return here.

I am glad that I did.  I had forgotten about the great crew that is here and someone is always willing to lend a hand, offer a suggestion and yes, chastise and point out the error of your ways.

I hope you are enjoying it here and I sincerely hope you enjoy this group as much as I am.

Have a great day.  Enjoy PClinuxOS.

Cordially;

PCLinuxOS: A revolution in personal computing

« Reply #7 on: June 21, 2011, 03:20:26 AM »

Whoa there Billy! Not all hardware is the same, and some will trip PCLinuxOS up. BUT - that's where the forum comes in. It's all part of this great distro, that if your hardware for some reason wants to be awkward with PCLinuxOS you can come here and find solutions.

But yes for the majority of computers out there, Billy's right, and the speed boost you get from PCLinuxOS is incredible. Ditto stability. Thanks for your kind words.

PCLinuxOS has no wealthy sponsors and can only survive with your donations! Don't wait it might be too late.

Six months later you are gonna be fuming because it never breaks and you'd have to do some actual work!

You're gonna wish you have Windows XP. Grin
