I am planing on buying a new monitor in the next few days. It will be a cheap, under $120, 19 inch at Amazon. I have pretty much decided on an Asus. Ignoring the speakers what do you think of the cheaper Asus monitors? Any bad experiences?

Maybe provide a link of the specific model you're targeting too.....
(then there comes specific information too possibly)

Ray2047,

I have an ASUS222something that I bought 4 years ago.  It has performed well to date and has no problems.  If there is anything negative about it, it does have an anti-aliasing problem in "theatre" mode.  I have never had a problem (in PCLOS) setting it up at max resolution, nor using it for either text mode or graphics. It has also "travelled" with me on over 2500km worth of household moves. (Not kidding!)

Apart from the above, I would recommend their gear, albeit based on one experience.

Here is the one I'm looking at: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VE198D-19-Inch-16-Monitor/dp/B004EFUOX0/ref=sr_1_1?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1308083247&sr=1-1

The reviews on that model seem good. I would say, go for it!  Smiley

Resolution 1440x900....
Not bad at all for that size
(only remember that a height of 900 is not that much  Wink)

Some more info here I think: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236114

I you like it, I don't think it's a bad choice

I don't know what your budget is or if that $120 is your max, but Newegg has this special for this week on a Asus 22" widescreen for $129.

Here= http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236096

A 22" widescreen monitor would be a huge difference in viewing versus using a 19" widescreen. Smiley

My budget is actually $0.00 but my primary monitor lost raster two weeks ago and the backup has had a strong burning smell for more then a week. If it goes I'll be on a 25 year old 14" CRT. Already ordered so we will see what we see when it gets here. Thanks for the tip though.
