Do I need to re-think for a Win guest where applications and files go?

I have been reading the VirtualBox manual and there is something I do not yet fully understand.
My old regular Windows setup:
My WinXp OS was on drive c:, but Documents and Setting were on F:\Documents and Settings
My applications, when they provided the option on install, I installed on my E:\drive
Files is do not need to share with e.g. Linux I put on my F:\drive
Files I share are on a S:drive.
E, F and S are partitions on one disk. C: was on an other disk All of them NTFS
When setting up Windows as guest in Virtualbox I would like to continue with such a setup. Can I ?
If I understand it correctly then:
a) E & F could be set up as virtual hard disks, so I would not need separate partitions on the host. S: could be a shared folder with the Linux host. But, could Documents and settings be on virtual F:? Can I install applications on virtual E:?
or
b) E, F and S could all be NTFS partitions on the host and could all be mapped as network drives under Win in Virtualbox. But, could Documents and Settings be in network drive F: and can I install Windows applications on network drive E:
Just have to know this to get and idea how to partition the disks on my new PC which I'm about to order. It is not an issues of size because with 2TB there will be plenty of space.
Thanks
Mellon.

I don't see why you cannot, but that looks like an (overly) complex setup for a VM.
You can attach virtual hard disks to your Windows VM, and give them any drive letter you choose.
I think you can map a drive to a virtualbox shared folder, but I am not sure of this (never tried). I'll have to test it.
