In theory, theory=practice, in practice ???

Well I think a testimonial is in order.

I would like to thank Neal, and Tex, and Melodie for answering specific
questions as well of at least 13 other people for answering questions the
last year.  As a DOS, Windows, SQL Report Writer, and mainframe computer
user only before using Linux they have been my learning curve.  Usually
when you ask a question at PCLinuxOS you receive at least 4 or 5 responses
in a few days.   Even posting a question is usually inspirational.

A few strong points:

- absolutely accurate and superior support from PCLinuxOS forums
- flexibility over Windows in everyday usage
- selection of Linux programs available at least as good or better than
Windows counterparts in every category for the utility of home usage
- faster and more secure operation on standard equipment than Windows
- technologically current

A few personal time consuming hold backs:

- identifying specific Linux programs as good or better than Windows
  counterparts and using them
- gaining confidence in install, backup/restore, and grub thru experience
- putting and using that info on a custom mini system
- getting something eventually that would run ProjectM
- hoping the kernel still stretches DosBox fullscreen 100%

My LXDE custom mini on sda runs better than Windows ever did.  My OpenBox
Bonsai flash drive backups everything in sight.

I've run PCLinuxOS from a flash drive, portable hard drive, and now from sda
without a serious hitch.  Something you could never do with Windows.  I think
PCLinuxOS is in the running with Windows, Mac, and whatever Google comes up
with for a markettable operating system base, if some entity ever decides
to do so.

One Attaboy seems like kinda an understatement.  How about Great Job Fellas !

"Welcome to the forum" would be a year late and several dollars short. You picked two good desktops. Both Neal and Melodie did outstanding jobs. Personally, I believe the Bonsai desktop to be the lightest on resources of all the PCLinuxOS editions. Boot time is very fast.
