Can't get my ACP UPS recognized in Contro Center

I have KDE/Gnome/LXDE on three computers, each connected to an APC UPS, two 350s, on 750.  I go into the control center, select configure UPS, tell it that it is connected via a USB cable, then it says "None found".  I have the cord from the data port on the UPS going to a USB connector.  I installed the "nu" libraries, the acpus library, and nothing seems to work.  The UPS shows up in the Hardware profile, but not set up in PCC.  What is the problem?

Check in PCC - System - Services .......  is it ticked to start at boot and is it presently running?

I opened my PCC Network-Services, and all I have are:
Configure DHCP, Configure Proxy, OpenSSH daemon configuration, Configure DNS, Configure Time.
Where is the list of stuffed to be ticked?

PCC > System > Manage system services by enabling or disabling them. From there, it's all pushing buttons.

I checked System Services, apcusp is ticked, running, I pressed the Start Button and am rebooting now to see if anything shows up.  Is there supposed to be an Icon somewhere?

I guess I should have mentioned .....  do you have nut & nut-server installed?

Yes, I have the nut libraries installed.  Still nothing.  I do not understand how to set the UPS up manually.  I do not know where to get the information that is required.

There is a manual set up option in PCC - Hardware - Setup a UPS ....  but I thought that was only for UPSs connected via serial socket.

Is that a USB to USB cable?

No, it is like a phone jack/ethernet jack running from the "data port" on the UPS with a USB end on the other running to a USB port.  This is really getting frustrating!

I have not used that type of connection ...  my IPS devices are of the older type .....  but the only problems I ever recall having concerned the cable in use.
It may be necessary to specify the cable number .....

Have you tried  apcsmart or apcaccess from the command line?

In Konqueror do

man:apcsmart
and
man:apcaccess

to read the manual page from both of those.

I have a 600-watt ups box, that Linux does not see the name of the manufacture either.

But it still gives me eight minutes of power, regardless.

I don't have an APC. My UPS is a different brand. But, looking at the configuration file for the APC in etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf, I see at the top of the file:

# UPSCABLE <cable>

There are a lot of different APC UPS models with a "350" designation. Find out what the exact model numbers of the UPSes are, then you can probably locate the cable model number to be used in the configuration file.
