Live USB

Hello....
I am making a live USB off of LXDE software using an 8 GB flash drive (memory stick/ key/ ect.) I was wondering when I make the download if I could keep the windows running on my laptop and keep the linux only on the USB thereby booting from the USB while keeping windows on my hardware. I have mapping software I would like to run on my computer, but it is only compatible with windows.

If you set up your BIOS correctly, the liveUSB device will boot when it is plugged in during boot, and if not there the existing OS will boot.
LiveUSB or LiveCD do not interfere with the OSs that are present on the PC.
They are self contained and designed to be portable ...... bring them to any PC and they will boot correctly most of the time.
regards.
