I am continually thrilled and honored to be a part of this wonderful magazine!  The dedication of its staff and contributors really comes through.  The articles are always helpful, instructive, and done with a heartfelt love for this Linux distro.Smiley

And it's so cool to see this stuff translated into German!:)  Forgive me, but I forget who is responsible for this.  Kudos to that person or persons!:)

Hello,

I have always pleasure to read your magazine.
But i such always news on developper's software.

At this time, i use as all the users a 32 bit version of PCLinuxOS and i wait on the 64 bit version.
To this time, no news on this on the forum.

I am not an expert of linux, but if a testing version is ready, i want help :
- PCLinux OS is fantastic
- all softwares are working on my machine
- it's easy to for me to solve the rare problems or the forum exist to have help.

But i understand it's not so easy to create a new 64 bit distribution that work as weel as a 32 bit version.

So news on this topic would sure be appreciated

Perhaps the other users of PCLinuxOS feel the same.

Thanks for your good tips and the quality of your magazine

Hervé

herve49,

Thanks for the kind words about the magazine.

Regarding word on a 64 bit version of PCLinuxOS, you would be better to stay tuned to the forum, where such an announcement would occur in a more timely manner, than in a monthly publication. Meanwhile, the usual "it'll be ready when it's ready" remains the only response to the 64 bit versions availability.

I always read and enjoy the magazine, thanks, (tho' I would not object if the photo of parnote was smaller   Wink )
On the lines of what herve49 was saying, it would be interesting to read about the technical and management issues of creating a 64 bit version.  This is not a request to have it available soon, yes our developers have priorities and it may have very little advantage, but the issues may be worth writing about.

Lucky Blue,

While I understand where you are coming from, it would be a bit hard for me (or any of the magazine staff) to write about something that we've never ran, much less the technical and management issues of creating. PCLinuxOS has always been 32 bit. Sure, there are other 64 bit Linux versions out there, but in all fairness, they don't have Texstar's touches, and I (for one) am not too inclined to wipe a perfectly good version of PCLinuxOS just to run another distro's version of a 64 bit OS.

I'm sure that once a 64 bit version happens, we'll cover it in the magazine.

Oh ... and btw ... the size of my picture in the magazine does vary from time to time, depending on how long my welcome column is!  Wink Cheesy Grin

Could be a browser issue. This picture in the HTML version of the magazine, Icaros page (http://pclosmag.com/html/Issues/201105/page07.html) and others in other sections,

looks like this in Chromium--but looks OK when viewed with Firefox and Opera. Slightly distorted under Konqueror.

cheers.
