Hi to all,
I have a problem.
Some 4 weeks ago, my laptop was wirelessly working with printers on my PCLinuxos workstation as well as writing to the shared data partition on the workstation.
After many updates whilst away, I can not find any printers nor can I mount the shared data partition in the workstation.
At first I thought that the router/switch had died. I replaced these but I still cannot print or mount the workstation shared data partition.
I then booted on a 2010.12 livecd and lo.... all worked as I would expect. I found the printers and mounted the data partition.
Something has changed in PCLinuxos that has caused this to happen, since the livecd has no problems.
Your thoughts, as always, greatfully received.

about printers, have you tried to reinstall them?  delete the ones you have and recreate them

about the partition, how is it shared?  using samba or what?

have you changed parameters on the network on the linux machine?  i can see my network shares here without problems(system fully updated)

Hi
Nothing changed on the workstation,(shares were NFS,SMB)  just switched it on to save some large files I had on the Laptop.
But I could not mount the workstation any more. PCC just locked when serching for servers, and found nothing.
The same happened to PCC when trying to find printers. I did then find that cups was not running anymore on the Laptop.
I could not get cups to run at all, again PCC locked up.
Since it has been some time getting a reply, I have done a re-install of PCLinuxos. Having backup my email.
I did try reformatting my /home folder in case something had stuck there, but it did not help.
At this point I was reluctantly came to the conclusion only a reinstall would help.
The Laptop is an HP Pavilion DV7, 2*1TB drives and 8GB DDR3 ram.
I have just reinstalled and done a full update, I will now see what I can find.
Many thanks for coming back,
Gezza
Well, I reinstalled and upgraded but the printer dialog just locks up, still.
I can now mount the workstation, so can move the files i have aquired, across the network.
since this is a complete reinstall and upgrade I have to suspect the upgrade has gone funny!!!
I can try to do an upgrade from a different mirror than AARNET

HI I did an update from the pclosuser site but it makes no difference!!! cups will not stay set in PCC
This now seems to be the printer problem.
Any thoughts as to why the printer is not staying set?Huh
I do reiterate that booting on 2010.12 I had printers and NFS working.
