I noticed that the homepage pclinuxos.com hasn't been updated ince 1/3.
How about an update listing the current state of PCLOS? ie.

Current KDE version
Main apps versions available
Current kernels available
Other DE versions

Thanks to the webmaster.  Grin

I think I've seen this suggestion before, and it's a good point. While the main page is well designed, being rarely updated gives the wrong impression that this distribution is not that active, at least if you don't bother checking the forum. I believe that at least some key announcements (eg kde or kernel updates, new applications etc) should be posted in the main page in addition to the forum.

What homepage are you viewing? The homepage I see has the announcement for the April issue of the mag. No way that was announced on "1/3."

The post was from 3/28. That is likely the info that was on the main page on that day. I'm not sure though.

Perhaps a link to Software Announcements on the forum would be sufficient?

No. The announcement of the March issue of the mag was up on that date.

The homepage is updated with news at least once a month. Some months, more than that. This month for example, there have been 2.

Yeah, there are always the magazine and the new isos announcements, and that's about it. But what about  announcements such as KDE 4.5.4 being available? I can almost believe 4.6 isn't available for PCLinuxOS...

No offence meant, point is that more announcements, especially key software updates, can be important in giving the right first impression Smiley For instance, I've seen in the pclos twitter feed that this was probably the first distribution to release Firefox 4 - wouldn't this be a great announcement for the main page?

I know what kde version we have. But it wasn't announced in the main page...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not critical. I've been using PCLinuxOS for three years and it has changed my life for the best; I've even occasionally contributed with a few tutorials. And I have no trouble learning the latest news, visiting the forum regularly is enough. What I'm saying is that this wonderful distribution would appear even more attractive to newcomers if all the important announcements were posted in the main page as well (and I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to say it). Anyway, I won't insist on this.

Texstar updates so many things per week, it is too complicated to keep the page updated with everything that happens

I am sure that if it is too hard for Tex to maintain and keep it up to date, there are more than one of us, in the forum, that would be willing to assist. I know I would be willing to help. Not everyone is a twit and reads the tweets at twitter  Roll Eyes  It indeed would be nice to see the main page a bit more up to date, than just to see a snip about the magazine being released.  Like I said I am sure there are more than myself that would be willing to help if Tex needs it or wants it.

I for one appreciates all his hard work and know things can be stretched at times.

This bring up the point I have wondered about. Updating the homepage is a pretty mundane thing & if it is Tex's job, well maybe it could be delegated.  Smiley

The point of my post is that PCLOS is an outstanding distro. Miles ahead of everyone else IMO. The homepage is it's face & hook to newcomers who may visit from d.....watch, favorable reviews etc. PCLOS is cutting edge, but stable and friendly!! If the homepage reflects the tech side of advances, & updates I think it gives a more accurate picture of the active, moving distro that PCLOS is. The magazine announcement, April fools day bit are good, but there is lots more going on here that make up very attractive bait for people checking out the homepage.
