There is a 5th dimension, beyond that which is known to man.It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity, between science& superstition,& it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call PCLINUXOS!

If you haven't been there in a while, you will find that the Hardware Database is being integrated into the knowledge base.

Is there a specific area where we can discuss all matters relating to the new wiki.

Eddie, I am not aware of any specific area to discuss maters relating to the wiki itself. You could just post your question(s) here or start a new thread about your matter or question. I am always open to new ideas or ways to make the wiki more user friendly. YouCanToo

I would prefer to start a "Wiki Discussion" thread but I don't really see a suitable area. The only possible candidate would be in "General" unless someone else has a better idea.

Software Discussion section would be appropriate, I think.

Is there a specific area where we can discuss all matters relating to the new wiki. Hmmmmm, I 've just realised there are "discussion" pages attached to each Wiki page, which is more the sort of thing I was looking for. - Eddie

[KernelKarter]
You are absolutely right that we need a section or method for discussing wiki pages/ideas. As Neal suggested above let us use the "Software discussion" section.
But let us label each thread that deals with wiki as "PCLinuxOS Wiki - mention the proper thread title here" That way the wiki related threads stand out.
Also a single thread for discussing the whole wiki issues that run into 10-20 pages will become tiresome after a while and focus on individual topics within will be lost in the melee.

Yes, I agree but perhaps it might stand out a little better if "PCLinuxOS Wiki" was enclosed in square brackets, like this:
"[PCLinuxOS Wiki] Place the subject here"

Hi, The wiki is actually under 2 different licenses which may not be compliant one to each other. The footer states: Attribution 3.0 United States and the disclaimer page says: http://www.pclinuxoshelp.com/index.php/PCLinuxOShelp_Knowledge_Base:General_disclaimerPlease note that all textual contents of PCLinuxOShelp Knowledge Base, unless they're not exclusively marked as public domain, are released under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). I noticed because the French community is being building a wiki too now, ( http://wiki.pclinuxos-fr.org/doku.php) and we are being discussing about the diverse possible licenses. So noticing the double license on the knowledge base I thought I would point to it. Regards, Mélodie

Just a note for the wireless section. I have a netbook (System 76) with the Realtek RTL8101E/RTL8102E wireless card that never worked well (poor radio reception). I stopped using the box long enough to be totally out of maintenance. When I reloaded LXDE 2010.01 last weekend, lo and behold, now the wireless works flawlessly (always link level 100%). Prior to this I couldn't connect if the box was more than 10 feet away from my wireless source. Now it works anywhere in the house. The vendor only had a another distro solution for this problem <grin>. It looks like the kernel developers have finally caught up with the appropriate drivers for this card.
