Morse Code early digital communication medium!

« on: March 15, 2011, 06:38:21 AM »

Over the last month and 1/2 I did a very unscientific survey of the top 10 Distros on DistroWatch.

installed and tried them all.  And have come to the conclusion that PCLinuxOS is the very best of them all.
Some Distros Well how should I say it , simply  don't look good.. PCLos is nice on the eyes.
Some Don't allow me to setup my Nvidia Card without going throuh hours of searching the internet. PCLOS set it up during setup.
Some can't find my printer - PCLOS - autodetects it.
Some won't allow me to use the wifi card in my laptop PCLOS auto detect and sets it up everytime.

and that's just the beginning.
Just want to say to Texar and the gang - Well done I'm very impressed.

Now if I can only get suspend to work on my Laptop it would be perfect.
Cheers !

If every user could be like you ... there's nothing else to do! Grin

Now, if suspending you laptop would get fixed, it would really be perfect ... and that's it. We'll all have to do some work then and where's the fun in that? Wink Grin  Cool

Hi Archie,

Well things can always improve I suppose , but of the choices available it's the closest to perfect I've found.  Of course then some one is apt to improve something I've just never used or tried before. he he
 Shocked
But for my needs this comes very very close..

That's really good news. I still have something to look forward to. Smiley

There's still hope for PCLOS. Wink

Hi uncleV,

Suspend will work somewhat , but it won't wake up on my Dell 1564 Hibernate will work but take a long time to get it up again.
hoping that suspend may get fixed when 64 bit arrives.  until then i'll just work around it.
I'm using LXDE and Gnome power manager to get the hibernate to work.

There was a wake up problem when using some specific video cards ......  there should be some threads on the forum about such problems, which *may* help.
