After we log in and go to our profile page, we have an option to see all our posts using "Show posts" link.

It would be very helpful if we could have similar "Show topics started by me" and "Show topics I have posted in". This will be helpful when locating an old post for reference later on. We might have multiple posts under the same topic, particularly for prolific posters digging through 20 pages of posts to locate that particular post will be less tedious.

I went through the FAQ of simplemachines.org but did not get any particular reference to this particular topic.
Useless info: phpBB has this facility.

These are the 2 options at the top of my page:

Show unread posts since last visit.

Show new replies to your posts.

On a side note some one mentioned in a post the other day that they were unaware of the "advanced search" option which can often help in getting to posts fairly quickly.

"Show topics I have posted in" would be the same as "Show the last posts of this person," which is already shown in the profile. "Show topics started by me" might be useful, but how to implement it?

Another useful one would be a "Solved" topics sub-section under each "main topic" area.

Again, it's how to implement it.

No it is not quite the same. If I was 5 posts spread across various pages in a thread of 20 pages, Show last posts of this person shows all of them while Show topics I have posted in will show only 1 entry that of the thread.

A preliminary search of simplemachines.org did not show the way  Sad

I suppose some other "mechanical"/ or manual ways of keeping track of obscure posts in long threads; Email replies - catalogued, name of thread, etc.

Another, keep a Doc, or series of, in a Directory. Basic Clerical techniques.
Create a Directory structure -SubForum Name-Topic/Thread Name- URL of Posts.

In Windows I have specially made simple Apps that I can store notes, with 400 "tick box" radio button feature - Title / Notes, for quick access. Alot of issues in solving problems for people with limited Computer knowledge require what we call, "Canned Speaches", i.), 2.), 3.), if you get my drift, a generic pattern of actions that keep everyone on track.

As a Malware cleaner in Windows MVP Forums I had similar problems, however we have "Library of Solved Logs", simple search of my Username brings up everything.

I'm sure there's some handy Apps in Linux that you can store a Title, which takes you to a Note, just can remember off top of my head.

Of course having the board featured to help make all this happen through simple / Advanced Search is much easier - don't think SMF has such features, in fact sure they don't.

I am unaware too.
I know only of Search and can't find an "advanced". Undecided

Great!

I'm sure I read somewhere on the forum that the "main" browser search bar was being used instead.......

I'm not sure what each forum theme shows regarding the search icon/link.
