Ok, some good news! Right now the following mirrors are synced and working, so to get fresh updates you can choose one of the following four options
Option 0: change to and KEEP the heanet repo=============================================
start
PCmenu ->
Software Center ->
Synaptic and enter your root-password. Then in the Synaptic menu goto Settings - Repositories.
Untick the current repository,
tick the repository entry named
ftp.heanet.ie, and press
OK at the bottom right to close this window. Then in the Synaptic menu click
Reload, then
Mark All Upgrades, and finally on
Apply. After Synaptic has finished installing the updates you must
Reboot your PC.
Option 1: apt-sources-list ============================
Please read the info on
apt-sources-list. Then, and after having pressed Reload in Synaptic, search for and install it. You will then have the latest Synaptic mirror information.
Option 2: manually add new sources.list============================
1) copy/paste the text displayed below into an empty document and save it as
sources.list in your home directory,
or just download this file from here 2) not just minimize but
properly close Synaptic if it is open,
3) as
root backup your original sources.list (which may contain your
PASS info): open a terminal (Konsole) and enter (copy/paste the following):
su -c 'cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list_orig'
(and provide your root-password when asked)
4) as
root copy the file
sources.list from step 1 to
/etc/apt/sources.list overwriting the existing one: open a terminal (Konsole) and enter (copy/paste the following):
/usr/bin/su -c 'cp -f /home/$USER/sources.list /etc/apt/'
(and provide your root-password when asked)
5) start Synaptic and
update your system Note: in the list above I have enabled the heanet mirror, which is one of the fastest you can get, other very fast ones are any of the Dutch mirrors.
Please only enable one (1) mirror at a time apart from the megagames repo listed first above. It might also be a good idea to not use YouCanToo's repo (pclosusers) as he recently already had excessive bandwidth usage, and now you have some alternatives to choose from.
Further news:
-> lost mirrors: all other mirrors besides the ones listed above have either not changed anything (=> they are outdated) or no longer exist.
regards,
-p.
