Hello.

I've been using PCLOS for a good long time without issue. I just built me an HTPC now connected to my home theater audio/video receiver via the HDMI output from my video card. It works perfectly using WMC7; great picture/great surround sound, but no a-whork with PCLOS. Can anyone tell me how to get the sound to work? I installed alsa but still no sound.

Thanks,

Gary

PS; GIGABYTE GA-H55M-S2V LGA1156 mobo, ASUS GeForce GT 430 HDCP Ready video card, Intel Core i3-550 Clarkdale 3.2GHz cpu, 4gb G.SKILL Ripjaws Series DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) ram, Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 Dual TV Tuner card, etc.

I sure did but haven't found a solution yet. I also tried the suggestion of adding the following two lines to the device section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf file:

Option "Audio" "true"
Option "HDMI" "all"

Didn't work.

A solution would be great, but until that happens, then must settle for the conventional alternative of optical/coaxial audio output for Digital/DTS 5.1 or the ancient RCA Analog Stereo and maybe virtual surround.

But for just a few folks, then having any type of working audible sound would really be considered like having a fortunate blessing. Roll Eyes

HDMI sound does work as there are many people using it.  I am one of these.

However, it would also be good to google your hardware component with linux and hdmi sound and see what you come up with.  I had a very hard time in getting my hdmi card to work and I found the answer on another linux forum board using google.  I am not familiar with your hardware so I would not know where to start in assisting.

This is how I got my hdmi to work.  I have no idea of whether it will help you.  I hope you get yours to work as I really enjoy my htpc unit.
