well i do not understand what to do next.
I only want to try it before installing it.

I have dowloaded the iso file from the site pclinuxos.com.
So i burnt the iso file onto a cd and then restarted my laptop and nothing happens...

I don't understand where the live cd is...

I believed what it says here ,that is also for beginners but obviously not:
Release Date: 12-15-2010
Size: 692 MB
Md5Sum: 72f39788908f11ccc630bd5bfef2d53e
Produced by: Texstar
User Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

I have spent a whole day trying to boot....reboot....read  forums....but i dont understand a thing you say ...
I have looked and looked for tutorials about what to do with this bloody file and i cant find anything...

Maybe someone can help..
Thank you.

Hopefully this might help, did you go into your bios and check to see if it will allow you to boot from CD?

Another question is when you burnt your CD did you do it as an ISO?

On my machine as it boot's up I have to press a key to go into the bootup selection, or to go into the BIOS.  You want to be sure your machine knows it's ok to boot from CD.  It sounds like it might be first going to boot from hard disk, and therefore never sees your CD as a boot device.

If  your burnt your CD not using the 'burn as an iso' that too may be your problem.

I hope you find this helpful.

When being on the download site, scroll down. At the very end, you see how to handle the ISO.

What's the problem ...?  Wink

i did that aswell and downloaded mobalivecd to handle the iso file.

But i cant open it .I try to run the liive cd by opening the isofile with the mobalivecd and cannot copy file to destination directory and then it says instalation failed.

And then there is the issue with bios.I try to boot from cd and it cant find the cd.

And to answer the question about how i have burned the file....yes i have burned it as an iso file onto the cd

I have downloaded the file as a DISK IMAGE FILE (ISO) from the site itself and burned onto a disk as a DISK IMAGE FILE (ISO).

Hmm, have you ever booted anyother CD.  I ask because if you had a good CD creation you should be able to boot.  I have never used mobalivecd, so I can't answer about that program.  But the live CD was created so one could boot to it, not needing another program.  It boots in rather than your windows from the hard disk.

When burning the CD, I assume you saw the checksum burnt was the same as mentioned in the release notes from the page your download the CD.

Since your machine cannot see the CD, I suspect either the boot selection (or BIOS) doesn't allow booting from CD.  Or that the burn was bad.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.  Every machine (about 5 so far) I've worked on can boot from a CD.  Maybe another forum user can assist.

Thanx

I went into BIOS---BOOT---BOOT OPTION PRIORITIES  and selected boot from dvd/cd rom drive....and nothing happened.

Second option i tried was  BIOS---SAVE AND EXIT---BOOT SELECTION MENU and selected the dvd/cd rom drive and presed enter and on a black screen the following message came...REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SELECTED BOOT DEVICE AND PRESS A KEY.......

Obviously the cd is not seen ...

Let me just ask one more question. If you look at the contents of the CD within Windows, what do you see?

If it shows as an .iso file, on the CD, you didn't burn it correctly. You don't burn it as an image file, you burn the image to the disk, which is an entirely different thing.

Good for you! Now you can start enjoying playing with the liveCD, and installing the OS to the hard drive when you feel you are ready. Grin
