I've had my days with Photoshop long time ago (version 6 I think), and I'm sticking it out with GIMP simply for the philosophy. Anything that Photoshop can do, GIMP can.
You can also use a selective Photoshop plugins on GIMP.
@Dragynn, there's a always a price ... even for the FOSS philosophy. You did pay for your Photoshop but IMO, it is not of the same value as time you will invest learning to be productive in GIMP. For some, it is easy to use and a struggle for others. Gert you value, dump Photoshop and use the Open Source tools.
