Hi all,

Experimenting with the rather nice Openbox Bonsai version on my little EeePC 701.

My question is - how do I disable the power saving or whatever is turning off my screen after 10 minutes?
I am not familiar as yet with the way Openbox works, but I tried two ideas I thought of - adding a script to the .config/openbox/scripts directory and adding a line to the autostart.sh to try stopping the blanking - but neither worked.
If someone can point me in the right direction, I will be grateful. Although power saving may be useful, I use the EeePC to video planets etc attached to a cam and my telescope and I don't really want it blanking out every ten minutes.

Cheers,

Mark

My approach is to download "xscreensaver".  It's in Synaptic.  It is usually launched through terminal - "xscreensaver-demo".  This brings up the interface.  Display mode - select "Disable Screensaver".  Then click on advanced - uncheck "Display Power Management".  It's worked on all versions of PCLinuxOS that I've tried.

You need to install your own screensaver software to take control of this issue.  There seems to be no way to change the "default".  Or at least I can't find one and have taken the proactive approach of installing my own and then taking control of it.  Works for me.

By the way, if you are into astronomy maybe you want to check out http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,85914.0.html

Thanks - I will give that a go.

Yes, I have seen the astronomy version - a great idea - but for my little EeePC, I just need a basic install with Qastrocam. On one of my desktops though it would be nice I suspect!

Edit:  Seems to have worked - screen hasn't blanked as yet. Many thanks for the info!
