I tried a fresh install of PCLOS/KDE but have the same two basic problems, the connection occurs about 10 minutes after the desktop loads. I originally said PCC freezes but it really doesn't it just takes 15 minutes or more to load.

When this started and if it started after an update is hard to say because I seldom turn my computer off or use PCC I did try installing from a copy I made in mid December and had the same problems. Just as a test I also tried a Remaster from two years ago and everything worked fine so apparently it isn't a hardware problem. I also ran 2 passes of Memtest and no errors.

I tried starting PCC from CL but it was just as slow and no errors showed up.  Tried a reinstall of PCC but no change.

Probably not related but I discovered my printer isn't detected either. I probably haven't used it since this began and maybe that started at the same time but I can't see how it could be related - just throwing it out there. Maybe all three problems are separate coincidences.I started a separate thread on the printer.

Are you using auto login at boot?
Did you use the same /home/user account when you reinstalled?

Maybe try not auto logging in and a new user account to test .....  and then log in to the new account on booting to see if the same delay is present, as it may be something in the user account that is affecting things.

Just19. good idea. I'll try that. thanks but since the connection should occur before the user is chosen I'm not sure that would help the connection part of my problem. Will test both problems with a live CD of current version and compare to 2 year old live CD.

Pathologist is leaning toward CPU since patient had recently had motherboard and PS transplant surgery and a recent memory test showed no problem.
