XFdrake won't enable nvidia-current driver for Quadro FX 1500m

It looks like nVidia finally decided to support the Quadro FX 1500m chipset again in the 260 releases (I was running an old 185 version installed manually).  Unfortunately installing the nvidia-current package and running XFdrake doesn't enable the driver (I choose the "GeForce 6100 or later" option).  I can install the latest driver (260.19.36 as of 1/28/2011) manually without a problem so I'm guessing it's a problem with XFdrake chipset detection.   Any ideas?

The dkms-nvidia173 Package and associated driver seems more appropriate.

The 1500m is not supported by the 173.14.28 driver.  Also, it's not one of the older GeForce 5 FX cards.  The chipset is the same one used in the Go 7900.

Don't know about the 1500 specifically, but have used the 173 driver on geforce 6600, 6800, 7600, and 8600 cards, with better results than the "GeForce 6100 or later" option, that loads the current 260.xx driver. The nVidia driver recommendations have a tendency to be a bit overly optimistic when it comes to anything but the current latest and greatest cards. Sometimes it pays to experiment.

I did try the 173 back when I first got the laptop (May 2010) and it didn't work, through the repos or manually (because the chip is not supported in the driver, all the cards you mentioned are).  The current version back then (196?) didn't work either as the 1500m wasn't supported at the time which is why i had the last 185 version that supported the chip installed until now.  The 260 version does support the chip and seems to be working when installed manually.  All I really want to do is use the repo version of the latest driver so I don't have to manually update.
