Hello folks,

Having an issue installing PCLOS 2009 on a Lenovo T60. It meets all the hardware requirements, and it will boot the live CD and go through the installation process. However it hangs when it comes to write the boot-loader. All I get is "Boot-loader installation in progress" window and that is it. I have tried three times with the same result. any suggestions?

pclinux 2009 version is now abandoned, it was replaced by pclinux 2010, right now in the version .12

please download a new iso, burn it and the load it

if i remember correctly this machine is somewhat old and you will need to use a less heavy desktop enviroment, lxde, xfce or gnome are excellent candidates for you

the iso files can be found here

With the last install attempt I waited 7 Hours or so. The specifacations of the laptop are as follows:

Intel Core Duo processor T2400 (1.83GHz)
1GB and supports up to 4GB maximum memory
60GB 7200 RPM hard drive

therefore it should handle the KDE desktop (or so I read) or have I been misinformed?

Also Ondisk.com has PCLinuxOS for sale however which version of the 2010 OS should I buy?

yes, i was confusing your laptop with another model wit a older cpu

of course you can run kde4

the install proces takes around 12 minutes on my 1.6ghz single core desktop so 7 hours means that something failed and you waster 6 hours and 45 minutes

be sure to make backups before doing any partitions, accidental format of a partition is something possible here, try to create a / partition in ext4 and a swap, if you like you can have a /home partition, it is your decision

still, try the latest pclinux because 2009 is abandoned completely, download 2010.12
