Well, I did test Omnitux on KDE Minime and also in the e17 full edition (with kdebase)....

An hour ago I played a little with it  Tongue:
I have made some puzzles, have done some monument placing, music instruments, music notes, alphabet, numbers etc etc - until now everything worked (but nearly not possible to test it all...  Lips Sealed)

If something should go wrong, open a new post in the software-section, and put in it a copy of the contents of /home/your_username/omnitux/log/omnitux.log
If you press PrtScr on your keyboard, the images are placed in that same directory...

Here are my tux's:

I won all these tuxes by playing the games....
=> but there are many more available!!! (so success with it  Grin)

(and you start with an empty screen when starting the game - filling it up with tuxes with each game; you get every time a different tux  Smiley :: you can place it wherever you want on the screen  Grin)

Hi, Folks.  Just jumped in to the testing waters here, and I'm curious - what are the system requirements?  I seem to have missed them somewhere.  I'm interested in testing on some older hardware I have (a pair of P-3s with 256 megs RAM) to see if this will run there - a lot of schools in my area use older donated hardware and a light footprint for an OS is a real factor in choosing to deploy something like this.

I'll let y'all know what shakes out from testing. Wink

Are there edu-packages not ready for the release? Or is Aradalf already doing them?
(then I know if there's work to do for the tux/edu-packages)

Thanks in advance!

Aradalf is indeed working on them..... no hurry; package per package (until they all work  Smiley)

Sure ! I was just kidding of course. Just to answer the question, no idea how low in power a machine can affort to be for this version, but it's possible that a PII also could be capable to handle it. Unless someone tries and brings us some feedback, no way we could know. (I don't have any machine such as this, I think).

Just a quick initial impression:

I booted the RC3 live last night on an old Dell Dimension L866r (PIII-866, 256 megs RAM).  LiveCD booted just fine, but some apps do not have enough RAM to run in the LiveCD environment (no surprise there).  I'll probably find a spare drive to put in this machine this week for a full install (present drive has my daughter's retro-gaming stuff for DOS...) and I'll follow-up with more when I do that.

Yeah, I know, is just that I still miss my low end test machine  Cry

That would be useful for children in grades 7/8 and up. And to answer the question yes it would be good, but starting a different Edu version so quickly? Roll Eyes

Well, I've finished fixing the tux* packages, with the last one being tuxwordsmith. Sorry for the delay, melodie. It took me quite a while to figure out what was wrong with the packages - me still being a newbie and all Cheesy - but I'm finally done. Wink Just sent the fixed tuxwordsmith up to Texstar, so I guess you can start Edu RC3 now?
