Hey, all.... I'm totally new to Linux and trying to figure out how to install needed utiliities.
I just loaded PCLOS on an IBM ThinkPad T42 (Type 2373) and have not been able to figure out how to get the sound to work for me. Neither the built-in speaker or headphones work.
I'll start by admitting that I'm still a Linux Wanna-Be user. Lots of history with MS-DOC and Windows, but just dipping my toes in the Linux waters. Can anybody point me in the right direction(s)? Thanks in advance.
MrHughes54,
I have no problems with sound on my T42. I'm running Phoenix (Xfce) on it. Sound was properly detected and set up during installation.
One thing you may want to check ... start playing an audio file, and hit the volume up button (next to the ThinkPad button) at the top edge of the keyboard. Sometimes, the volume gets inexplicably turned down, and simply turning it up via the keyboard works.
