Hi Everyone,
I want to thank everyone, and especially to old-polack for all the assistance in getting my scanner to work correctly. It will be forever burned into my brain.

I can now successfully scan a document in through the emulator and it is saved in a shared Linux directory.
and the attached link
http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=38210&start=0 a bit more detail on creating a shared folder and connecting it to an Virtual XP Machine.
Hopefully it will help other Linux newbies like myself.
So hope everyone has a goodnight.
Just a note personal and update.
PC Linux OS KDE can install on my machine
(Still got xfce in at the moment by will change shortly after playing with wine/windows installations.
If I am going kill my setup, I'd rather do it now, then later) ,
all hardware now works in Linux except the scanner of course and
my radio that is built into my tv@nywhere card.
Successfully emulated XP home edition (because its free) and Win98SE so far.
Whatever Win Software will not run in Linux will run on both Win Emulators.
So, Basically I think I got my system licked, so far.
I just want to say, thank you to everyone for your help and wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Tom
