Do the commands he gave, just use the correct name for the module.

It obviously worked once for you when you put in the correct name, so the procedure would be to

edit the modprobe.preload file as already explained, putting in the correct named module.
Then reboot and you should have it working ......  check with the cpu freq command already given.

Success! Can't post the reading but I got what I think I should. Adding the "r" to powenow did it.

Now how can I tell if it loaded the correct video etc. drivers?

Another question, I've been searching but haven't done anything yet but............... is it suppose to be powenow or powernow? Everything I seem to find is powernow, not sure if the time I did get a response if I copied coffee's post or if I typed it and typed powernow instead of powenow. He does have powernow in the k-6 and k-7 but powenow for the k-8.

You are correct. Somewhere in preparing some of my posts I've copy/pasted from other posts to save some typing and the error got picked up.

You don't need to unzip anything. Open Konsole, copy/paste:

and add the line powenow-k8  powernow-k8

Save! Reboot.

Ahhh...typo

The original typo is in your Reply #6. You got the first two (k6 and k7) right, then left the r out of the last. (k8) Unfortunately that's the one needed, so it just propagated down the thread. I've corrected most of the spellings by adding the r in blue. If you spot one I've missed, please make the correction in a like manner. (We want accuracy, but don't want cover up accusations)

Also, don't be hard on yourself. Stuff like this happens, we fix it, and life goes on.

Part of the problem comes from your not posting your results, then waiting for the next instruction. When you jump around like a frog on a hotplate, you become a moving target, and people can't keep up. It takes time to analyze a result and test possible fixes. Meanwhile, you are compounding the problem with commands that shouldn't be given at an inappropriate time.

Patience is what's needed for proper troubleshooting.

What you mean that I can't get instant gratification here? LOL just kidding and will keep that in mind! Today was hard to post results when I had no access to the internet except from work computer. Then I thought I was on to something so I posted. I'll bend over and take my whipping.
