I just had a quick look at the kids forum and noticed the broken sword 2.5 thread.

scummvm plays quite a few older games of the same type (beneath a steel sky, flight of the amazon queen, drascula and are free to download).

the scummvm project is pretty good, it will run older lucas arts games too, like the monkey island series, and loads more if you have the disks.

just google scummvm and check the website, the screenshot page lists the games that are known to run.

and scummvm is in the pclinuxos repositories  Wink

Hope it's useful

Could you add a section for young ones who are into computer or linux to talk specifically to that? Otherwise I think this is a great idea!!

Just FYI:

DBGL or DosBox Game Launcher runs just about 95% of dos games, apps, educational programs and just about everything else. Take a look at it. I've just started to use this program for about a month - DBGL actually uses DosBox in the program itself and does not require a DosBox installation. Best of all, the program can be run completely from the desktop.

To find out more, goto the "tips and tricks" area of the forum and look for the thread "DosInWINE" - I've dropped DosInWINE and started using DBGL and have even created a simple tutorial on how to get the program to run. Step by step instructions are in a PDF file.

For more info, I'm more than likely moving the thread to the "Software" area of the forum; I wish I could move it myself but I'll leave that up to the admin.

Anyway, check it out. Works great and it's extremely simple to run; you don't even have to install DBGL! Just unzip the files to the desktop, open the folder and click on the DBGL program. Runs perfect. Best of all, it's all point and click except for some typing for descriptions, company names, year of release and such. It's very extensive when it comes to info!

Have fun!

Sincerely;
billy7720

PS: My friend has a 7 year old girl whom is very interested in PCLinuxOS - I've got 10 educational programs for her to start with and hope to have more using DBGL. She'll love em'! (PPS: I have a laptop for her for her birthday which will have PCLinuxOS installed with all her learning games including Oregon Trail Deluxe!)

The Kids Forum has been revived.  Sproggyjnr and longtomjr had an intercontinental work session this weekend  to revive and amend the PCLinuxOS Kids Forum.  Boy - did they do a great job!

The channel #pclinuxos-kids is also up and running again.

So don't be a bore - click on my signature and have a look!!   Cheesy
