I installed PCLOS LXDE on my Acer Aspire 7230. During install "wisard" I chose "/"and "Home " and installed without problems. When I start up, I need to brighten up the screen ("FN" and ยค). Every time. I can not install my language, danish, but only choose between Burmese and English (!). If I choose Danish I get a crazy message: "Please reboot If You have changed the video driver ". I have not changed anything. I've have run PCLOS KDE without problems except a little KDE instability.

Sandalmanden, first of all update your system with Synaptic. When that's done, use the "Localization Manager" from the menu and pick your language. This tool will adjust the language for all of your applications. After a reboot you should be good to go - in Danish! If you have more questions, just ask. We'll get there Torsten

Thanks for the replay The first thing I do after install is obviously to update via Synaptic. Well: 1. Manage localization for your system. 2. Please Choose a language too use. (default Burmese). 3. Next. 4. Denmark. 5. Please reboot if you have changed the video driver ..... and so on. A bug? . the CD is checked with md5sum and are now used to another machine without problems. So it's probably not here the problem lies. I have now installed Wine, Java runtime, etc, and the machine has frozen a few times, so something is not playing together im afraid. Steen

Hi Sandalmanden, looks like your system in a messy state. No idea how you got Burmese in there... Easiest solution is 1) do a new install using the latest iso (takes only 3 minutes), 2) update your system, and reboot (just to be sure), 3) read this and then run PCmenu -> More Applications -> Configuration -> Localization Manager, choose Danish and follow the instructions; reboot (done by addlocale) 4) enjoy your Danish system (works fine, just tested) hope this helps, -p.

pinoc, strangely, after an install I initially have Burmese as the only alternative in PCC as well. This is a little confusing. In any case, following your steps is the way to go. Be it with or without part 1 Ignoring the option in PCC and using the Localization Manager is easy and does everything anyone will need for localization. Torsten

Hi,
I will try to bring more details about the language setup.
Long long ago, in another PCLinuxOS times, there was only the setup you met with, in our aging PCC. Since 2009, a new program appeared ! This has been a setup created by pinoc, and that has for name "Addlocale".
Unless like PCC, it is a script that allows you to change your system in english for a system in another language among many, such as German, Danish, Dutch, French, Spanish, and many more !
And you will find this magic program... not in PCC ! But in... let me look... That must be "Menu > More Applications -> Configuration -> Localization Manager".
or in a console, as user (you will be prompted for your password in a window, after) : just type "addlocale".
Then follow the instructions.

Thanks for the replies, I'm doing a new installation, it's the fastest I think. Ohh, that image of a cup of kenya coffee and a "Spandauer". I really believe that I need to ....
