Ok I know I am a bit of a tool but I am sure  you are all can manage . I searched around the forum a bit and well, quite frankly I suck at searching cus I never get the right key word(s) .  So here is the story, as difficult as it may be for some of you to hear, I did choose to install Gnome in lieu of KDE. I see that many of you KDE users have tweaked your desktops to include different widgets and what not . I am tring to see how I can get some of this going in Gnome as well.

I am hoping you all can point me the the general direction.

Lucid_dream, If I understand correctly what it is you are asking, one is to use screenlets. They are widget-like mini apps for the gnome desktop; weather, different sensors, and so on. They will work with or without compiz. Have not looked, but there should be screenlets in the repo.  Hope this helps-ken
