That is scary. Time to line your wallet with aluminum foil.

What's even more scary is this push, in the US, for a National ID card. They say it's to prevent illegal immigration. There are several good videos on YouTube.

Next comes the implantable RFID chips that everyone will be required to have.

This would be an excellent time to create wallets with foil built in.  I think these would sell like hotcakes!  I believe the gent in the film is making big bucks with his sleeves, but having a wallet that's safe would appeal to both ladies and gents. Grin

Yes, I saw this on the news about a week ago.

A guy went around in crowded places.  In a container/bag of the size of a shaving kit.  He'd just pass it by man's back pockets, women's purses, and he'd grab all their information, via the RFID-chip.

The type of card, the full number, and almost always the expiry-date.

This RFID is also in most new passports.  Just for your info...

Since modern cell phones have GPS installed, and there's this piece of equipment, the crook could target a person, go to their location, and score big.  Yep, real scary.  Anyone ready to return to checks from the bank? Grin

Thus far, none of my cards nor current passport has a RFID chip.

But for those who are concerned...

This was also talked about on 'Pitchmen' awhile back. Someone had developed a sleeve for your credit cards (et al) to prevent this.

BUT guys and gals....

We're talking about the masses, people that you and I know.  They are NOT computer savoy.

I haven't had a major credit-card since 1981.  THEY will never get me hooked again.  I buy all my vehicles, furniture, tools, groceries, etc.. by cash.  Remember it...cash.

Keep your cash in your front pocket, where it can't be taken.  The rest rest where you feel it's safe.  F**k the banks and financial investments of today.  They are too busy playing the stock-markets, and losing my/your money.

Soon it will be electronic-money only.  I asked a local gas-station just the other day, how much stuff he sells is by cash, by people like me.  He said that 90% of his stuff is bought by plastic...  WOW!

I saw an article recently when an MIT student developed a prototype electronic wallet. You do not start anything In the wallet it communicates to your smart phone via Bluetooth and from your phone to your bank, credit cards what have you.  The walled actually expands and contracts with your bank account.
Yes another way for people to grab your information out of your walled without touching.  But yeah the RFID is just bad news. I thing I still have one implanted from when I was in the military I think it’s right next to the GPS locater they installed in my head.. things are a bit fuzzy so I don’t know for sure  Lips Sealed

RFID wallets and sleeves are available at amazon dot com; they're 'supposed to block rfid readers'.  I'm holding out for a leather offering, embossed with the PCLinuxOS emblem.
