I was wondering how/when PCLOS adds new kernels to its repos?

2.6.37.x is almost out but we still use 2.6.33.x Im just curious as to why.
Do they have a special testing procedure they have to go through? New packages seem to hit the repos much faster than new kernels.

this question has been done many times but here it is

newer kernel doesn't mean a better or more stable kernel

a new kernel usually needs fixes, patches and modifications to make it work stable for most hardware, this doesn't happen in days or weeks, months usually

if your current kernel is working well for you, you don't need a new kernel

the only real reason to need a new kernel is because you have a very old kernel(more than a year) or a particular piece of  hardware requires a module that you know is present on newer kernel

2.6.36 has broken stuff in it which is no good for a lot of people. So waiting to see if 2.6.37 is better.

Hopefully it will sort my problems with my DVB DTT dongle .....  so looking forward to its arrival after testing.

Isn't the scheduler supposed to get "smoother" in 2.6.37? That's the one I can't wait for...  Wink

oh I had no idea they were that broken. I figured when a kernel went "stable" (on the kernel archive website) it was non-buggy.

Im not looking for anything in particular 2.6.33 just seemed old. I AM excited for the "200 line patch" that increases usability under load, which people speculate to be coming with 2.6.38
