I've used Windows 95, 2000, XP and lastly Vista.  Never would believe I'd be happy with anything else.

I acquired a Asus eeepc701SD from a friend about 3 months ago.  I wasn't happy when I realized it had a Xandros Linux OS installed.  I figured I'd find a way to install Windows Xp or something similar, but in the meanwhile I did mess with that system for awhile and eventually came to the conclusion (did much reading and research) that Xandros was an extremely outdated and even dead end.  Borked the system a few times dealing with problems with dependencies and also could not find a way to update the kernel <--- I wanted to do this in order to upgrade KDE3.4.2 to KDE4.  Someone on the eeeusers site told me to consider an upgrade to a modern distro and YES, this was the beginning of a new way of thinking!

I decided to check the newer distro's and even tried two before finding PClinuxOS.  It was the easiest to set up, instant wireless internet connection, everything worked OOTB.

Extremely happy, no chance of Returning to Windows at all!

Thank You Very much for an excellent operating system, !  Cool

You'd have to excuse scoundrel, sandy ... dudette. He's usually out of focus when he's had his second. Wink

Welcome to the radically simple PCLinuxOS community.

dudette, scoundrel is an alright dude...!  (he's kinda' a north-american in Sweden...).

I too was totally into dos/and all versions of windoze, minus vista).  Even tried OS2-Warp back in the day.  I first started with Linux,...Redhat back in the day when there was just dial-up modems.

Every so often I try another Linux OS, now-a-days.  It's a curse-ed bug in my system...never happy with a good thing.

But from all the Linux OS's I've tried.... PCLinuxOS has the easiest install, even in advanced mode.  Plus it's control panel it easy to navigate.

As has been said, WELCOME here.  These forums will help you with what problems will come your way... Smiley

Whatever else may be said of our scoundrel, his welcomes are always sincere, and his friendship is as real as it gets.
