for fixing Google Earth.  Now, if I could just figure out why Kindle stopped working under Wine...I would be all set.

Try running wine from Terminal.

In your case that supposedly would be
wine kindle.exe [arguments]

Yes the 'kindle on pc' application has stopped working for me too... I think something has changed at Amazon's end. Was working fine with an older version. It stopped working recently and the new version is the same.

It stinks that the kindle software runs Linux but they can't produce a client program for a Linux PC that at least works in wine!
