Canon MP480

I can't seem to get this printer to work. It finds it plugged in via USB but then can't find the driver.
I've downloaded the driver from the canon europe site for 490 (other sites say this one works) but when I supply it the PPD file it says that it is malformed. Any help please?

The clowns? Oh, yeah, the clowns. We fight them too; entire armies, spilling out of Volkswagens. We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending `em in.

Solved!
Here's how to get it to work. First, download the drivers from the canon europe website for the MP490. Select linux for operating system and download the RPM packages. Uncompress the tarball. One folder will be a website with instructions on how to install. The other folder will be the actual install script. Just follow the instructions and everything works great. It even sets up CUPS and everything like that.
The install program sets up default as well.
Now, does anyone know if you can scan over CUPS as well? Meaning, on my mbp, I can print using the CUPS interface to this printer using an IPP address. Is there a way to do the same for scanning?
Thanks!

One more question on this topic.
So I think i have the driver installed correctly and all that and it prints fine, but there is no option built in to adjust the color or quality. Is there an option in CUPS to do grayscale only somehow.
The printer driver itself allows me to run a command followed by the file I want to print and have it print in that form. Unfortunately, that means I need to go to the command line every time I want to print to change settings. Further, if I'm printing remotely via cups, I can't run that particular command...
Will probably go back to my old HP after the ink runs out on this one...
