LXDE & XFCE Graphical Installs Fail

I have encountered a problem trying to use the graphical installers for the latest maintenance releases of PCLinuxOS LXDE and XFCE on my P3 machine, 256 MB RAM. My P3 computer currently has Windows XP Pro SP3 installed on its only partition. When I choose to erase the disk and use all available space for PCLinuxOS, whether LXDE or XFCE, the graphical installer immediately advises that all modifications have been made, and to restart the install process. I do so, and find that no modifications apparently have been made; Windows XP Pro SP3 is still shown on the hard disk by the graphical installer. Dead end. Windows XP Pro SP3 then fails to reboot, and an error message is displayed, so something was modified, but not what I expected.
I had no such problem previously using the graphical installers for PCLinuxOS 2009.4 LXDE on my P3 machine and PCLinuxOS 2010 LXDE on my P4 machine. The graphical installer is now designed differently from what it was for those earlier releases.
I am assuming right now that console-mode might be the answer to bypass the graphical installer problem. My question is: Can I do a console-mode install from the Live CD to partition, format, and install?

Try formating your Disk with another Live cdlike gparted and than just install PCLinuxOS on the freshly formated partition.
That worked for me

You have to be sure you downloaded the .iso file and burned the LiveCD disk without errors.
For that purpose do
md5sum
on the downloaded file and try "Media Check" option of the booted LiveCD.

Re: LXDE & XFCE Graphical Installs Fail... (GNOME too, with multiple partitions)

I have had the same problem with Gnome edition.
The workaround for my install was to "use the entire disk"... (otherwise installer would terminate).
But now, it doesn't allow me to launch gparted to rearrange things on the backend.
