Twice attempts to update failed..

After a dual boot installation on a Compaq Presario:6545dk with XP and PCLinuxOS KDE 2010.07 I tried to make a full update. Downloading the packages went ok but at about 75 % of the applying I am moved to a console. - In that state I can not startx or reboot or halt the pc. I am getting info
about something  like 'can not find libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0..' - I have tried this twice. I am using PCLinuxOS now but I am a bit afraid that if I try to update again same will happen, and I do not know how to fix the problem ?

2010.07 is too old to update now. Please use a fresh ISO.

After installation of 2010.10 or 2010.11 please update once a week or once every two weeks and you can run it for a long long time.

Thanks very much. I missed the announcement of the new iso. I fetched it, burned and installed and this time all went well.
