The main reason I have never made the move to a Linux Distro, was the difficulty in configuring it. That was until I found PCLinusOS! Ran the LiveCD on my MAIN computer and when it detected EVERYTHING including my wireless network adapter and printer, I knew I was on to something. Although I still dual boot with Windows XP, I seldom seem to find myself in Windows any longer. I have friends that tell me that Windoze is the way to go and in return I now tell them that anything they can do in Windows, I can do with this OS. Although I am still like a baby on a busy highway when it comes to anything in Terminal Mode, most of what I have found so far can be done with the GUI interface. That in itself is great for a one time Windows user and now a Linux newbie. It allows a user a chance to explore and try things, rather than be limited to simply a few non-essential things.

Finally, I'd like to add that the users of this forum are great. I have browsed through many of the titles and no matter how elementary the question might be, I have yet to see a sarcastic response, which makes someone like myself (brand new to Linux) confident that my question will not be met with a "How can you be so dumb" response.

Bucky,

Welcome to the forum.  Your observations are exactly what makes most of the newbies who come here feel at home around here. Plenty of non technical stuff happening over in the sandbox as well. Enjoy your stay.

Welcome, young friend.

To me the best thing about PCLinucOS is that even if it is newbie-friendly you can easily do anything you want the geeky way too. But usually you don't have to.
