Installed  PCLOS 2010.10 kde on the old compaq I mentioned in my other recent post. Finally got the GUI working.

Used a CRT monitor very similar (both compaq same size screen) to the one at my friends house where the computer belongs. The screen resolution was 1024x768 on my monitor.

The CD configured the monitor for horizontal 31.5-48.5 and vertical 50-70. I let the CD test her monitor and it set up that monitor with the exact same configuration so I left the xorg.conf file alone but when I booted into PCLOS on the hard drive it set screen resolution at 640x480. Checking PCLOS CC shows the video card set to 1024x768 but configure your desktop shows only 640x480 available.

Will someone point me in the right direction so I can get this resolved?

Open PCLinuxOS Control Center, and go to Configure your Video card...

There are two things that you have to configure for your resolution:

Monitor (you can set the right resolution in there) => change from plug'nplay to the right resolution / monitor,
and
Resolution (logical)...

Press test before applying it; if OK, log out, log in, and see what happened.....

Else post here your xorg.conf please... (if it doesn't work
