Hello, I need to setup a test server in a VM and I need it to be as small and light as possible. I just need to run apache & php, no graphical front end, just the command line would be perfect. to keep memory footprint as small as possible.

What would be the best way to achieve this (minimum services running and no graphical front end, ideally not even installed on the machine to keep the disk foot print to a bare minimum)

As far as I understand, minime sets up a fair amount of stuff already, can I reduce this further ?

thanks for your time

I suggest you search for "cli.iso" on the forum.

Melodie used this as a base to build her Openbox base ISO upon.

There should be a link or two to the cli.iso in some of those posts.

That is about as minimalist as I am aware of in PCLOS.

Yep, and that's probably bigger yet than what you are asking for, what you want is a L.A.M.P. edition, ya might google that term, I have one somewhar in this mess o' mine stashed away that's only like ~10 mb or so, and there are even smaller ones to be had.

If you find it post it here, it would be a good image for a PClinuxOS Server Ediiton, to host websites

Openbox-Bonsai  is only 260MBs or thereabouts .....  which might suit you.
Use the PCLOS repository for extra packages and updates.
