I have a P4 Power Spec computer I am trying to use right now because my main computer has a problem but it is slow as molasses. I thought it might be because it only has 256 megs of ram. I took a look inside just to check what kind of ram and I don't see any. Do they make Moboards with hardwired RAM only, no slots or am I blind. I don't see any. Is 256 too little for PCLOS?

I have a PowerSpec, too! Not the same model, but it has regular RAM slots, for sure, and I can't remember ever seeing RAM hardwired on the mobo. It should be there near the CPU...

If you care to know how much of your current RAM is being used by PCLinuxOS, try running  free -m  in a terminal. In any case, 256M sounds like a stretch, alright.

I'm showing 249 total, 246 used, and 3 free and thatis with an old  Tiny Me running KDE3. Thanks. But bingo I found the memory slots hidden under the cables. Guess I was blind.

Sweet, that sounds like a very good thing. I've kept my PowerSpec going by updating it from 512MB of RAM to 2GB, and PCLinuxOS keeps it running very nicely.
