Hi,

I found an old AGP card I forgot I had and want to change it with my current one since it has better specs and a DVI connection which the current one lacks as well. I am hoping this may aide my sleep/hibernate issue as well.

Both I believe would use the same drivers so is there any need to un-install the driver first? Or would I still get a black screen?

And if I do get one will 'startx' fix it or do I need to do something like XFdrake?

Just need the procedure, I did it once a few years ago and honestly I don't remember how I went about it.

Thanks

My guess is all you need to do is replace that card. The OS should detect it when you boot up.

Well, that didn't go so well  Shocked

I am supposing the card is not good but when I replaced it a long time ago it was still working. Guess I am back to the old one until I find a decent AGP card.

Pro tip: You do need the 173.xx drivers as well to get any resolution above 1024x768

Sorry about that ... likely card is borked. Did you see the bios starting? If yes, you might try it running a LiveCD for double check. If not the thing is sure borked. (Me thinks  Wink )
