Which version of PCLinuxOS are you using and what files are you looking for?

If you can keep you head while all around you are losing theirs, then you have misunderstood the situation.

I have two good remasterings.  One Openbox (Spanish version achieved with addlocale) and Zen-mini which I added spanish, printers, smplayer, brasero, dvdrip, dropbox, openoffice, amule, shotwel, bleacbit and restore mbr.

Both went very well!.

Hope this can help.

Excuse me for butting in here.  Grin
The only times my remastered desktop differed from the orig was when I excluded something with --nofile or --nodir.
What command did you use to remaster?
Are you running live, or installed to hd?
Are you sure you are logged in to your user & not root? Root has a completely different look than user. (yeah dumb question) Embarrassed

It should look like the PCLOS original .......  does it?

Do you mean you want it to look like your account setup?  If so there are some threads on the forum about copy files to     /etc/skel   I believe .......  you might search using that term.

I had to use nofile because I could not have all the info on my /home fit on the live, (I tryed mylivecd without nofile and nodir without knowing it would try to shoe horn all that stuff in:)
And i am logged in as user running a terminal as root to make  mylivecd. It will make a live cd, it just doesn't have the fit and finish pclos has. I have made livecds with 2009 running mklivecd and they allways came out looking ,feeling and acting like the original .
I know there must be a setting or file that I am not loading( at least i think that is the case) but i do not know where it is kept. and I cant just download all my programs again because i have a very slow connection with a 200 mb limit( that's right, 200 megs).
And Johnmart, I would say there there are no dumb questions, but I look at mine and i am not so sure.
at any rate, the os on my laptop is slick and it has all the photo programs I need and I would like it for the higher powered desktop pc. I know i am close.
I ran :  mylivecd #1.iso --nofile=^/home,james/music   (because I had put all info into the music folder to make a shorter command)
at first i ran --nodir=^/home and made a iso without home and that did not work.

Solved. Today my laptop crashed (never do an upgrade on battery power in internet cafe's). my only option that I had was to use the new iso that i burned to get all the favorite programs that I had collected back on the laptop. I right-clicked the task-bar, the ap launcher and the tool box and pretty much got every thing that i liked back to the way its supposed to look. Thanks for the help guys, now I can put this on my 8gig duel core amd and really crunch some photos and movies. James.
