wow, just realized that CD/DVD drives are not getting mounted on any of my PCLinuxOS installs...they will play CD's and DVD's with some fiddling, but will not recognize data CD's at all and will not mount the drives in any kind of way that would enable me to read the files on a data CD.

Any ideas? This is kinda important.

Not important at all. Wink

Now... if you go Configure Computer-->Local disks-->CD/DVD you can choose a mount option for the drive and it will write changes to fstab file if you tell it. After that probably you'll be fine.

But may be look what does old-polack things on it:

...or Search forum for "mount CD DVD" by user old-polack.

Well i'll be doggoned but I had already tried that, but since you recommended it I decided to give it another shot and by golly it worked this time, I must have fat-fingered it somewhere the first time Embarrassed

May be you didn't click OK for changes to be written to the fstab (in the last window).

And Just16 is right - their names should be shown in the file manager and when you click on them they should mount at your request.
