I actually swapped in some parts to get the old dog working right, one of which is an Atheros wireless card from a newer laptop, did NOT expect it to work without major fiddling....

Unplugged my ethernet and started walking over to the neighbors to test (I use a wired router, no wireless at my house), clicked on the network icon in the tray, and not only did it know EXACTLY what card I had, it had already installed it as wlan0 and was looking for a signal! wow man, that is a first, no joke, and it found it too once I got close enough, and connected with no problems.

crap, Just19 is gonna give me the "fanboy" taunt again, but I just had to post this, this is an old Gateway Solo 5350 we are talking about, Pentium 3 and sloooooow sdram and notoriously finicky/crappy Intel graphics.

Really nice work Siamer, Tex and Slick50!

Let me disillusion you, Zen-fanboy! Wink

This should work the same way with any other PCLOS version (even KDE ha ha ha) because it comes from the kernel. Tongue

Let me just add to the appreciation of Gnome Zen Mini. Installed a few days ago on an IBM Thinkpad R51; dual boot with Windows XP. This was an $99 ebay purchase with an XP key but no hard drive. Now with a 320 GB HD  and upgraded to 1.2 GB ram.

Zen Mini 2010.10 installed perfectly with wi-fi. I am most impressed! The default graphics/theme are very cool! Installed VLC (win codecs) and Gimp for now. It is so nice to start with such a scaled back OS!

Well done!  Cool

With all of these desktops and quarterly releases, I am going to have to retire just to have enough time to try them all!
