Tex posted the following on his Twitter account. "Last month the build server generated 2,752 updated packages. Thanks to the volunteers who help keep the PCLinuxOS repos updated!"=============== I would like to second that - we don't see what goes on in the "background" - we simply get the fruits of all that hard work and I would like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone involved. Thanks!!!

If you can keep you head while all around you are losing theirs, then you have misunderstood the situation.

Just to give a little example - rebuilding the VirtualBox OSE for 3.2.10:
1. Open VM I use for building rpms 2. Delete all snapshots, open Synaptic reload, upgrade, wait four hours for upgrade to finish 3. Replace kernel in VM because installed kernel does not have kernel-source in repo anymore 4. Reboot VM and wait for dkms modules to build 5. Download last SRPM and new tarball 6. Install SRPM and edit spec file for new version. Put tarball in SOURCES directory 7. Start build. Wait 6 hours for build to fail. Not enough room on virtual HD. 8. Shutdown VM. Create new virtual HD and attach to VM. Restart VM 9. Mount new virtual HD on BUILD directory and build again. Go to bed late 10. Next morning build is complete so move files to host machine and shutdown VM 11. Mount partition for test install and copy files there 12. Unmount partition and reboot into test install 13. Find test install is too old and no longer meets dependencies. Consider amount of bandwidth already used upgrading host and guest machines and decide against upgrading test install 14. Reboot into main system and remaster 15. Poor man's install of remastered system 16. Find install partition is too small for remaster, open PCC, resize and reboot. Repeat 15 17. Re-install on test partition. This will, of course, wipe files previously copied there 18. Reboot into test partition 19. Mount /home from main install somewhere on test system and copy files again 20. unmount /home and attempt to install virtualbox and driver 21. If successful, create a VM and check everything works 22. Copy guest additions package into new VM to ensure they work 23. Shutdown VM and reboot into main install 24. Copy SRPM into Dropbox for others to build and test
And this is just one application.
