Just installed 2010.1 (not 2010.7 which is another issue) onto this machine but am a little puzzled about the size and positioning of a desktop icons.  I like to put icon links onto the desktop and/or quick launch for my most used apps.

1>  It seems we can no longer drag and drop but must right click on the menu item and select "add to desktop" at which point the icon is always placed top left - over the home folder!  Is this a "feature"?

2>  The icon is always very small and is unaffected by any attempts to resize.  Similarly the text font is not affected by the global desktop font size?

3>  Is there anyway of tuning the icon spacing?

I suspect the answers may be something to do with "folders" and a reason that I have avoided KDE4 as long as possible (though PCLos has one of the better implementations)?

Hi Pussycat,

No. 1 and No. 3 >  There have been quite a few posts on the forum about this problem already. The problem may be a bug.

The release of KDE SC 4.5.1 is going to be all bug fixes so hopefully these problems will be addressed.

This post may be better in a different board, rather than on the compiz-fusion board.

I agree but this seemed the most appropriate - I figured Software was more about apps than system!

Anyway the link at leasts demonstrates that I'm not alone in this annoyance...
