So I don't know how many people here have ever given a thought about trying out openbox.... But you should!!!

It is by far one of the most customizable window managers. It didn't take me long to make my desktop look like this and that's what makes it so awesome.

I mean where else could you use 250 mb of RAM while updating, watching youtube, and browsing this forum and still not feel your desktop slow down.

If you don't believe me just look at my terminal....  Grin

Didn't try pure Open Box though was thinking about it.
But...
do you think or feel LXDE takes much more resources?

Thanks Parnote

By a few mb... maybe but I changed some stuff in my openbox install.

Nitrogen handles the wallpaper
PCMan File Manager doesn not manage the desktop at all.

So I guess you could say... I feel a difference now but it's possible you won't... If that makes sense...

Lee i really like your customization Smiley

It would be great if you could make livecd of your system and share it Smiley
If i don't ask to much, copy your config files from your home folder to /etc/skel
and make iso with mylivecd script

you can share it with megaupload.com or similar websites

thank you inforward Wink

I really like your desktop Lee, downloading PCLOS openbox version now to play with it Cheesy

I've been a long time KDE fan (since 1999 I believe!), but am becoming more and more annoyed at their constant mess-ups.  Each "new version" of KDE4 seems to take 1 step forward and 2 backward, things are continually being fixed and then re-broken, and my reasonably capable AMD X2 1900 mhz laptop with Nvidia 8400 is starting to feel like a P2!!

It's quite sad really, if they would just concentrate on consistency rather than playing "keep up with Windows tm", they could have a good product.

Sorry, rant over Wink.

With Openbox all you have to do is pick the apps you want and just go with it. It's a whole lot easier the KDE4.

I still have KDE4 on my computer with 1 GB of RAM but on my computer with 512 MB RAM(Even though it's more modern KDE4 is kinda slow on it) I run Openbox. If obmenu gets added to the repos customizing the menu will be a whole lot easier  Wink
