After installing 2010.07 the system boots ok to the login screen. After logging in an error message appears Plasma Workspace crashed kdeinit4 PID 2637 signal 11, then an error message KDE Daemon crash. If I exit the error messages I get a black screen.

I have a ATI graphics card. The driver being used is Raeon X1950 and earlier.

Thanks

Did you install from CD
If yes, can you put in that Live-Cd again, and open the option Memory Check in the first menu that appears (GRUB)
and/or did you check the md5sum of the downloaded ISO???

Yes I installed from a CD and I did check the md5sum - is the same.
Also I have been running PCLinuxos 2007 with no problems.

I solved the problem. It seems I have a bad cd-writer. Did a hard drive install and everything is working.
Thanks

I'm curious did your LiveCD passed it's own "Check Media" option?
